Build an Army Stop dying to the first sergeant pack
The ambush is the tutorial. Damage, placement, and a living line beat stacking extra bodies.
The official description of Build an Army already names the problem: survive enemy ambushes and conquer new lands. On a fresh plot the ambush arrives first. Footage of place 76904351006435 is consistent. You buy a starter infantry soldier, you Deploy, and two sergeants melt that body before the lane has paid you anything useful.
This page is the wipe article. The first-session order of buys is Getting Started. The send loop is How to Play. Spend order lives in the Barracks Guide. Upgrade choice — damage versus speed — is its own walkthrough at Upgrades.
LiveForFun launched this free four-player tycoon on 7 August 2025. You are not waiting for a patch that removes sergeants. You are learning the contact that every later unit still has to walk through.
What the first ambush actually is
Public runs show early enemy sergeants standing on the lane, not a named world-war map and not a capture point. One unupgraded infantry versus two sergeants is a delete. The infantry does not “lose a close fight.” It vanishes.
That is why stacking extra default infantry feels productive and pays nothing. You widened the smear. The sergeant pack still wins the first trade. Cash from distance and combat never starts because the line never walked.
Later landmarks, including a volcano-looking stretch, sit much farther down the same lane. You do not skip the sergeant pack by aiming at the volcano. You beat the pack, then the lane gets longer.
The three things that change the trade
Damage. Early footage keeps pointing at a damage upgrade as the spend that lets infantry start winning hits. One clip even calls out five damage per hit after a tick — and the line still melted until more damage landed. If the shop also offers speed, read Upgrades before you dump the pouch into movement. Speed on a body that dies in one contact is a faster funeral.
Placement. Place the infantry. Then Deploy. Buying is not presence. Presence is not a send. A tank, when you have one, belongs at the front of the column in public runs — see Tanks. Machine gunners and medics, when the barracks actually stocks them, still have to be on the field. Unplaced stock does not soak a sergeant.
A living send. Deploy, watch the first contact, Undeploy if the march paid and you need to restock. Panic Undeploy before any distance is how you earn a screenshot. Sitting on a wipe and logging out is how offline earnings become a zero.
What not to do after a wipe
Do not buy five more default infantry with the same damage as the one that died. Do not paste a code from Build ur Army or Make a Army. As of September 2026 this LiveForFun title has no widely confirmed public codes — the empty list is on Codes. Do not buy Nuke! at 7,214 Robux as “ambush insurance.” That pass is OP and optional, not a sergeant skip for a broke first hour.
Do not assume the server is broken because one sergeant pack won. Rebuild. Put the next cash into damage. Place. Deploy. Watch.
Robux packs that dump a tank or extra machine gunners can change the front of the column. They are still not a required answer. A legal rebuild with barracks cash is the loop the tycoon was built around.
A rebuild that actually walks
- Confirm the last line is gone. Do not Deploy a ghost.
- Buy infantry if you have none placed.
- Buy a damage tick you can afford. Skip speed until the contact is no longer instant.
- Place every body you are counting on.
- Deploy and look at the sergeant pack. If they still one-shot you, the next pouch is still damage.
- When the line starts winning hits, let it walk. Distance is the payout. Then spend on a second body that can use that damage, or on a machine gunner / medic / tank if the shop is honestly showing them.
Camera work for seeing the pack is on Controls. Ranking talk for the pattern is on the unit tier list: a damage-upgraded core that clears sergeants is S. A lone unupgraded march is D.
After the first pack stays down
The ambush does not vanish. Later ground still has fights. Rare and legendary units with unique abilities, when they appear, still have to survive the same lane. A unique ability on a dead send is zero. Unlock timing is How to Unlock Units.
If you can clear the first sergeant pack, you have a lineup worth leaving deployed when you quit. That is the whole point of offline pay. If you cannot clear it, stay in the session. Thirty more seconds in the barracks beats six hours of a grave.
Client scripts that spam Deploy into a sergeant wall are a Scripts topic with a ban attached. They do not teach the trade. Learn the contact by hand, then decide whether you still want an injector.
Beat the ambush once on camera. Then the rest of this wiki — tanks, upgrades, offline, tier list — has something to rank.
Frequently Asked Questions
Quick answers to the most common questions.
Why do sergeants melt my first army?
Early sergeants punish unupgraded infantry. Buy a damage tick before extra bodies. The first-session version is Getting Started.
Should I buy more infantry after a wipe?
Not until the soldiers you already have hit harder. Extra weak copies are a wider smear. Spend order is in the Barracks Guide.
Is speed a better upgrade than damage for ambushes?
Usually no. Speed on a body that dies in the first contact is a faster wipe. Compare both in Upgrades.
Do tanks skip the sergeant pack?
Public runs place a tank at the front when one exists. They still have to be bought, placed, and Deployed. Details are on Tanks.
Can codes or Nuke! clear ambushes for me?
No confirmed public codes as of September 2026. Nuke! is a 7,214 Robux OP pass, not a beginner skip. See Codes.
Will offline time beat the ambush while I am away?
No. Offline pay continues a living deployed army. A wipe is a zero. Setup is Offline Earnings.
